Assassin bugs (Figure 1) are generally
black or brown, but many are brightly colored and 1/2 to one inch in length.
The head is elongate with a short, curved beak. There are about 3000 species
in the world and more than 160 North American species. All species are
predaceous and attack a wide variety of programs. They will inflict a painful
