Rostom Kachouri received the Habilitation à Diriger les Recherches (HDR diploma) in 2024 from the University of Paris Est (UPEC).
After earning his Engineer and Master degrees respectively in 2003 and 2004, he was Assistant Professor at the National Engineering School of Sfax (ENIS). He then joined the University of Evry Val d'Essonne as teaching and research assistant (ATER) where he obtained the Ph.D. in 2010 in Image and Signal Processing with the highest honor (Félicitations du Jury). He worked, for three years, on Content Based Image Retrieval (CBIR) systems.
From 2010 to 2012, He held a post-doctoral position as part of a project with the high technology group SAGEMCOM. He worked there on various problems of image analysis dedicated to document digitization and faces a number of technological challenges, such as document segmentation, layered encoding of the scanned documents and lossless compression.
In 2012, he joined the Computer Sciences Department of ESIEE Paris, where he is Associate professor and the leader of the A3SI team of the Laboratoire d'Informatique Gaspard Monge, Université Gustave Eiffel.
Using Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL) methods such as Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) and Generative Adversarial Networks (GAN), his current research interests include the study of the automatic authentication, the segmentation of pathological signs and the screening and diagnosis of various pathologies from biometric and medical images such as fundus images and brain and cardiac MRI.
